Michael_S_Miller
Michael S. Miller has played with stories all his life. As a game designer, he has published the superhero role-playing game With Great Power. As a writer, he pens the sword-and-sorcery tales of Oshala the Hex. He lives in Pennsylvania with his wife, three cats, and far more books, comics, games, and movies than his grandchildren will possibly want to inherit.

Evidently Bill is here to make sure I fulfill my promise to him that I would give Dune another chance (by voting down the white whale)!

Sounds cool. I read this piece on io9 earlier today, that plays up the "fantasy" angle: https://io9.gizmodo.com/marlon-james-talks-superheroes-the-joy-of-fantasy-and-1832275142 It's on my wishlist.

Great review. Thanks.

Absolutely. Most of the discussion was from about a half dozen of us, but when I combed through all the posts, there were 32 unique posters who made at least one comment.

Another weekend, another sample, available here. I took out the Moderator/Owner titles and all the pluses on the comments. I kept them on the root posts as a slight nod to the G+ format and also because in later chapters we often skipped the summar…

Well, my odds of participating this year are low on any case, simply because of time commitments. So take my thoughts with a grain of salt. I started Dune about 15-20 years ago and couldn't get through all the Paul Atreides acid trips. But, I tol…

It's been a few months, but today I found the time to get back to this project. There was a lot of cleanup to do, but that's mostly complete now. Here's some sample pages. What does everyone think? I wanted the design to echo the look of Google Pl…

Sounds interesting. Thanks for the review.

Hmm. May and June are usually pretty busy for me at work. I guess I could take July. Don't want to commit to a book just yet, though.

Sounds good. My reading has been virtually non-existent since we finished LotR, so getting back between the pages will be good for me. Thanks!

If we wanted to use descriptors rather than numbers, would we call these: * Serial * Episodic * Shared World Maybe? Regardless, I'm with you in favoring #2 / Episodic series or #3 / Shared World series. The Dresden Files is episodic, as are most …

My strategy is: be persistently broke. It's doesn't always work and I don't recommend it (the disadvantages are not pretty), but it does add a +4 to Save vs. Impulse Buy rolls.

Looks like there is no ebook available? Or am I missing it somewhere?

Ugh! I meant "left" and typed "right" Definitely not awake yet.

I have my notification preferences setup so that it seems me an email every time someone posts to a discussion that I started, or a discussion I commented on. In the desktop version, there's four little icons on the right column. One is for account …

Ha! I didn't think you were hinting. It's just that my first instinct is to get books into people's hands. And rounding down "indie RPG famous" to "not famous at all" barely counts as a rounding error!
-
@dr_mitch , sadly it is out of print. My partner holds all the rights and files, so there's not much I can do to help. I do miss it sometimes.

Bookmarked these for later. Thanks!

I'd also mention The Bloody-Handed Name of Bronze, which recently completed [its Kickstarter.](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/JoshuaACNewman/joshua-ac-newmans-bloody-handed-name-of-bronze"its Kickstarter.") It is very much an improvi…

Like the overly-literal username says, I'm Michael S. Miller. I joined the book club on G+ several years ago, about the time when I shifted my focus from designing and publishing story-focused indie RPGs like FVLMINATA, With Great Power, and Serial…

Great review. I will add a tidbit of trivia. Several years after Dread came out Eppy made a serious push to try to sell it to non gamers. He even got a both at a horror movie convention. It didn't go well, but he tried.

I've been tracking my writing for two years now, and it serves a similar purpose of motivation and flagging problematic times of year. I log most of my books at Goodreads these days, but never look at the stats. They are way too depressing!

I listened to the audiobook over the summer and really enjoyed it. It's not very plot heavy, but focuses on exploring characters and the universe they inhabit.
