Bookstore Finds
I’m trying hard not to buy books this year because I want to make a nice dent in my unread pile. But my mom wanted me to take her to The Book Trader in Brockville, Ontario and I can’t go in there without buying something. Here’s what I found today. I’ve never read the History of Middle Earth - always been daunted by its sheer scope. But after our Slow Read last year I’m ready to jump in. They had this hardcover of the section that covers my favourite parts of the LOTR, so I nabbed it. Also, a blast from the past for me, the Trigan Empire is a wonderful graphic novel from my youth I can now revisit.

Yeah that is a great store. There is always something there - I got the cassette for Always coming home last time I was in.
Did I share this stash I pulled from a donation to the library? I still need to cull (as some of these are likely stinkers) but I grabbed willy-nilly.
Trigan Empire? I love how they go from riding "horses" to spaceships in a few years! Great pulp SF and loads of fun!
You've got five classics there, that are worth the whole load - Pohl's Gateway (which is BEGGING for an RPG conversion!) and the two double Vances. The Dragon Masters won a Hugo or Nebula, and is wonderful stuff.
