Babel Q1: General opinion
Now you've read the whole book, what do you think about it? Has your opinion on the book changed? What do you think are its strengths and weaknesses? Was it worth reading? Will you take something away from it? Did the balance the tension between story and polemic?
And, do you think this two-part read was a good idea? Is it a good way of reading longer books in this club?

The book itself - I found myself disappointed with development after what I thought was a very strong parts 1 and 2. The storyline lost conviction for me, likewise the actions of both central and peripheral characters. So for me the later parts didn't live up to the promise of the earlier.
Although I didn't need to break up the read, I am not opposed to this in principle, and especially if it helps others join the adventure.
However, this makes it hard to answer the question "did my opinion change?" Thinking back, I believe I liked the book most during part 1, and my appreciation slipped gradually from there to the end. Overall, I'm pretty close to Richard and Clash on this one.
